“Traffic”
“Hotel Rwanda”
“Ocean’s Eleven” (and both sequels)

No CommentsHollywood actor biography: Don Cheadle
Don Cheadle is a Golden Globe Award-winning actor who is raising awareness about the war in Darfur. This war is a conflict between tribal and ethnic groups in the western area of Sudan. It is fueled by over population, desertification and regional politics. So far, it is estimated that over 200,000 people have been slaughtered in this fight making it one of the largest genocides of the 21st century.
The death toll in Darfur is staggering. It is an atrocity: the slaying of innocent blood. Yet, it is a war that at one time outsiders to the region largely ignored. So how did Cheadle get involved in the struggle? Read the rest of this entry »

When he isn’t filming movies, Academy Award nominee and Golden Globe winner Don Cheadle is raising awareness about the genocide taking place since 2003 in Darfur, Sudan, which according to the UN, has left to date more than 2 million Sudanese dead or displaced.
Born in Kansas City, Missouri, on November 29, 1964 the rambunctious son of a bank manager and clinical psychologist never thought that he would become a world famous actor as well as a human rights activist.
Since youth, Cheadle was indeed destined for stardom. It was in drama class that the young high school student succeeded most, and it was in front of the big screen in New York, where Cheadle felt most comfortable.
As one of Hollywood’s Read the rest of this entry »
No CommentsMovie reviews: Hotel for Dogs – Part 1
Hotel for Dogs
directed by Thor Freudenthal
written by Jeff Lowell, Robert Schooley
starring Emma Roberts, Jake T. Austin, Don Cheadle, Johnny Simmons, Kyla Pratt, Lisa Kudrow, Kevin Dillon, Troy Gentile, Ajay Naidu
An early contender for worst film of the year, this tawdry exercise in absolute pablum features too many dogs, hideous and charmless children, and the sadly wasted talents of Don Cheadle and Lisa Kudrow.
Indeed, one has to wonder how Don Cheadle chooses what he’s going to allow to be the vehicle through which he emotes grandly and eloquently. How did his agent sell this film because even on paper it screams Nickelodeon tv movie. It should have never made it beyond a small screen treatment but Read the rest of this entry »
No CommentsWhich street provides more entertainment: The Vegas Strip or Broadway?
New York City and Las Vegas. Two cities that are both the same and yet totally different. In New York there is many things to be entertained by: shopping, shows, the possibility of being on TV, and not to mention museums and landmarks. What is there in Las Vegas? Sure there are shows. Plenty of them. However also in Las Vegas there is hotels and casinos. Casinos may be entertaining but will they provide the experience of a lifetime? No, they won’t. All they’ll provide is a chance for all your hard-work-for money to go down the drain. Entertaining yes, logical no. But so many legendary performers have been in Vegas. This might be the reason you’re willing to go Read the rest of this entry »

Band reviews: The Beatles
It is hard to believe, but The Beatles came to America 45 years ago. We’ve all seen the footage of their arrival at JFK, the huge crowds of teenage girls surrounding their hotel, and of course, their first appearance on The Ed Sullivan Show. They say that 1 in 3 television sets that cold February night was tuned to watch the Fab Four’s debut, and the world was never the same after that appearance. The next day, every teenage girl wanted to marry one of them, and every teenage boy wanted to BE one of them. They were new, exciting, different and they spoke to millions through their music, personality and appearance. If you look Read the rest of this entry »
No CommentsBest rock song ever…
Rather than select a “greatest song ever”, I have opted to go in the other direction and make a list of rock songs I’m not especially interested in hearing ever again. This isn’t because all of them are bad songs-though some certainly are-but because they’ve been overplayed, overexposed, overrated and, as a result, I am completely OVER them!
1. “Hotel California” The Eagles
I don’t hate this song, but I’ve had it drummed into my head by Classic Rock stations entirely too much.
2. “American Pie” Don McLean
Eight and a half minutes of claptrap! I’ll admit it’s catchy and I used to enjoy it. But spare me already. And some people tell you “but, dude, Read the rest of this entry »
