True gardening stories: What my garden taught me
It had been months since we had moved from the state of California to the hills of Montana. A long three-day drive covering many roads less traveled. We lived in a hotel for a couple of months, moving into a condo as our next destination and finally into a beautiful light brown three level house soon to become our home for years. From the aftermath of a winter storm spring was settling around the hills and the flat lands of this gorgeous state.

As a kid I loved to stay in a hotel! It was always an adventure and for my child-self the hotel stay was just as much fun if not more fun than the actual destination. I loved the crisp white sheets (the ones I would never have at home because they were too plain), the writing desk with the official hotel stationery and complimentary pen, the large shower with unlimited hot water, and of course the hotel pool. Never once did I think about germs or the cleanliness of the room and I only remember my parents once requesting a room switch due to an unsatisfactory room.
